Reverb Price Guide

Customer Problem

I don't know what to charge for my listing. I haven't considered listing on Reverb.

Hypothesis

Creating a quick tool to value gear will drive listing push rate by shortcutting the listing process with a pre-filled sell form and pricing recommendation.

New data model

Our previous price guides were manually maintained by our Catalog team. We created a new data services model to build an interactive tool that uses our most accurate and comprehensive pricing data.

Metrics

New listings and improved efficiency for our Catalog team. A few months post release we saw an increase in conversion rates for users who go on to price gear and then create a listing. Further iteration generated a $5M lift of 4.14% (31k incremental new listings).

Challenges

Our vision was initially to create a modular price guide component that could be used in other meaningful locations across the site, in pared-down form. We found that technical limitations with our RQL performance load times would make this unreliable. Refactoring elements of our platform architecture would make this possible – work began as a separate initiative in 2024.

Price guide fuels Reverb

After our release of the Price Guide, other teams started using this single source of truth data in other aspects of the site to help Sellers price gear accurately based on likelihood to sell as well as tools to help Buyers compare the best value.
